A Purple Holiday Paint #3
This is my third painting. One of these days I'll scan them and post it on this blog, although I'm frankly glad that I don't have one. These paintings are awful, and I'm by no means being modest. Then again it isn't about the quality of art piece. It's the practice of doing something that frees me from analytical thinking.
This painting is the most elementary, but as I type the words "elementary" I feel guilty for elementary paint jobs. I swirled lavender acrylic paint with a sponge tipped brush. Then I went back and filled up the page with more in a swirly way. I used silver to outline a triangle and used the tip of a highlighter to dot silver circles. The bottom layer was coated with lavender, silver, and then lavender again. I smeared some silver paint in the background to create a confused shimmer.
I don't exaggerate when I say that it's elementary, but I find that beneficial. Minimal thought activity is much needed for me. It's simple and bare, a reflection of my Holiday experience. Plus it's so me. Who does a purple Holiday but me? What can I say? I'm different and not like everyone else!
